  1. The media have seized on a story about a human Barbie who is using hypnosis to help "make herself more stupid"

Can she do this?  Is it real?  Here's the story as reported by  the daily mail and then i'll tell you the truth....

A woman who has dedicated her life to transforming herself into Barbie is taking her obsession with becoming a doll to extreme lengths - by having hypnotherapy to make her 'brainless'.

Blondie Bennett, 38, from California, has sessions once a week to make her more easily confused and vacant.

The former model, who changed her name to Blondie a year and a half ago, has also spent £25,000 on five breast enlargements taking her to a size 32JJ.

She is now unemployed and earns a living by taking money from online sugar daddies who support her in exchange for sexy pictures of her dressed as Barbie.

Blondie regularly has spray tans, Botox and lip fillers to give her a more artificial appearance. But to make the transformation into the plastic toy complete, she is actively trying to become more stupid.

She said: 'When people ask why I want to be Barbie I think "who wouldn't want to be?"

'She has the best life. All she does is shop and make herself look pretty - she doesn't worry about anything.

'I've had 20 session and I'm already starting to feel ditzy and confused all the time.

'Recently I went to pick a friend up at the airport and couldn't remember if I needed to go to departures or arrivals. I also got lost for three hours driving to my mum's house - the house where I grew up.'

Blondie says her obsession with Barbie began at a young age, when she played with the children's favourite.

In her teens she dressed like Barbie, bleached her hair and even had drove a Corvette like her hero.

Then, at 18, she began to take on promotional jobs at toy stores pretending to be Barbie.

'Recently I went to pick a friend up at the airport and couldn't remember if I needed to go to departures or arrivals. I also got lost for three hours driving to my mum's house - the house where I grew up'

Blondie said: 'People thought it was just a phase but I thought to myself as soon as I move out of home I'm going to turn myself into Barbie.

'My friends hated the attention I got from guys because of how I dressed. The told me to tone it down when I went out with them.

'I was forced to live a double life until about eight years ago when I decided to become Barbie for real and ignore what other people said.'

Last August, Blondie had her H cup implants increased to a JJ with 1700cc saline implants.

And in December she had chin liposuction to contour her face so she looked more like Barbie.

She said: 'Some other women pretend they are human Barbie dolls but I take it to the next level.

'I want people to see me as a plastic sex doll and being brainless is a big part of that.

'People can criticise me but this is who I am: I want my transformation to be head to toe, inside and out.'

So....the media love stories like this, but Can you hypnotise youself to be more stupid?  Of course not. What you can do is pretend that you are being hypnotised in order to get a huge amount of publcity to help get work for yourself as a glamour model or on reality TV, then perhaps you can sell some books or a website subscription of the back of it. You can make money being a "celebrity" with no talent so the real trick is to find the right way to generate huge amounts of publicity for free. I wonder if there is a PR agency behind this story? Was it picked up from nowhere at all?  Of course it wasn't ... the PR agency came up with the story, drafted the press release and the eager media pounced on it because it was easy to print as it is and helps to get clicks on their websites which generate money.

If you listen really carefully you can here the sound of her agent speaking to the producers of the next series of Celebrity Big Brother!

  2. I wonder if you have experienced any stress in the past year? Does it seem like a question that you know everyone will have an answer to?

Some people when asked may say that they have had some stress, or a lot of stress and many many people will say that they have had an incredible amount of stress. Let's face the fact that we all experience stress in our everyday lives. Some more than others, but what makes a difference to how we see it and deal with it?

We all know the effects that stress can have on us. How can we manage that stress in a different way?

A study in the US tracked 30000 adults for 8 years. It asked:

“How much stress have you experienced in the last year?”

“Do you believe that stress is harmful for your health?”

They then used public health records to find out who had died! Does it sound a bit drastic? What were the results ?

They found out that people who experienced a lot of stress in the previous year had a 43% higher chance of dying....but...that was only true for the people who also believed that stress was harmful to their health. Of the people who experienced stress but didn’t believe it was harmful there were no more instances of death than would be expected. It could be concluded that this means that believing stress is harmful to you is the real problem rather than the stress itself.

So, here is what we can learn from this: if you change how you think about stress you can change your body’s response to stress.

By learning to view a stress response as helpful to you and your performance you can actually see a benefit.

How you think about stress matters.

You may not be able to change the stress but perhaps you can change how you think about stress? It is something that you may already start to ponder. If you can't change the things that cause you the stress perhaps you need to change the way that you allow them to affect you?

Just knowing that fact could make a small difference to the way that you think about stress.

The science behind our stress responses

The hormone Oxytocin, which is known as “the cuddle hormone”, because it is released when you hug someone, has huge benefits to you and the way that you feel about things. It helps you to become more compassionate and caring. I'm sure you would agree that is worthwhile!

However, it is a stress hormone and can be as much a part of a stress response as adrenaline. Why is it doing this? It is telling you to get help and look for support. Your stress response wants you to be surrounded by people who care about you.

Oxytocin acts on your body as well as your brain. It helps protect you from the effects of stress. Your heart has receptors for this hormone and it helps to heal. So, when you reach out to others to seek support or to help someone else then you are helping to heal yourself.

Another study took place which threw up some very interesting things to think about...Scientists in the US tracked 1000 adults from 34 to 93. They asked:

“How much stress have you had in the last year?”

“How much time have you spent helping out others?”

Once again they then checked the death rate. This time they found that people who spent time caring for others showed no increased instance of dying unlike those who did not.

So, what can we learn from this?

When you choose to view your stress response as helpful and choose to connect with others under stress then you create resilience.

Reach out and ask for help.

You do not need to deal with stress alone.
